ICS Hosts 9th Annual Futures Of Education Luncheon

Dr. Richard Guarasci, President of Wagner College, speaking at the Futures Of Education luncheon

On Friday, March 29th, 2019, Integration Charter Schools hosted its 9th annual Futures Of Education Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn.

With over 250 guests in attendance, the Futures of Education Luncheon celebrated the importance of civic leadership in education. ICS educators, board members, community partners, public school educators, community leaders, and local organizations all took part in the conversation on making higher education accessible for all.

This year’s keynote speaker was the esteemed President of Wagner College, Dr. Richard Guarasci.

Dr. Guarasci, who has served as the president of Wagner since 2002, spoke passionately about the educational challenges the next generation of students are facing. Dr. Guarasci addressed the audience with a focus on student engagement and creating meaningful change in the lives of our community.

One of the more poignant parts of his speech included, “Our job, at your level and my level, is to develop, educate, nurture, cultivate a generation of creative and transformational leaders who can build, sustain, and cultivate themselves in interracial, intercultural democracy and in a just economy. ”

The event came to close with a rousing question and answer session with Dr. Gurasci.

Lavelle Prep’s staff band The Wolftones provided musical entertainment both before and after the event, which was made possible in part by event sponsors, the Bentson Insurance Group and The Lois & Richard Nicotra Foundation.
