Lavelle Prep Students Honored to Perform at Staten Island Advance Women of Achievement Luncheon 2018

The senior music students of Lavelle Prep had the honor of performing their hit song, “The Truth: We Need Change,” which was written and performed by students, with support from music teacher Kyle Fackrell.

Student performers included singer Aeva Soler, rapper Jerramiah Jean-Babtiste, and musicians Vivian Martinez, Victoria Cruz-Greene, Brandon Morales, Steven Rios, Eniola Ososami and Amadou Dieng.

The song, was motivated by  he school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and all school shootings before it. It represents a student’s call to action, and was extremely well received by the luncheons audience.

Held at the Hilton Garden Inn, the luncheon honored six remarkable Staten Island women belonging to the “Class of 2018”: Patricia Monahan of Prince’s Bay; Josephine Marino of Great Kills; Margaret Grandstaff of Tottenville; Zulma Cruz of West Brighton; and Diane Buglioli and Genevieve Benoit of New Dorp.
