Dear ICS Students, Staff, Families and Visitors,
We are proud and excited to be kicking off our 9th new school year on a series of high notes as we celebrate accomplishments, milestones and successes.
With the official merging of the education corporations of Lavelle Prep and New Ventures, Integration Charter Schools (ICS) has now become a reality. While preserving the unique identity and mission of each school, the merger now allows us to streamline a variety of operations under one united educational corporation.
On June 28, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 24 Lavelle Prep seniors and 27 New Ventures seniors. As Lavelle Prep and New Ventures’ second graduation, this celebration served as an example of our mission realized. Our hard-working graduates crossed the stage that day well prepared and confident, and as they venture into the next chapter in their lives, we wish them all the success in the world. Graduates, you will always have a home at ICS.
It is with great excitement we announce that our capital campaign has received a significant boost with a generous financial promise from Lois and Richard Nicotra. Thanks to their lead contribution, our next school in the development pipeline will be named the Lois & Richard Nicotra Early College Charter School (NECCS). With a proposed 2018 opening, NECCS will be an early college high school, beginning in 8th grade, that will enable students to graduate high school with up to 60 college credits from St. John’s University.
Last but not least, exciting planning is now underway for our new facility in Corporate Commons 3. Currently, we plan to occupy 2 of 8 floors in a gorgeous and modern new facility, conveniently located within the same complex. This new space will house the Lavelle Prep Elementary Division, New Ventures, and the proposed Nicotra Early College Charter School.
Thank you for your continuing support of ICS and our students. Here’s to a fantastic 2017-2018 academic year.
Kenneth Byalin, PhD.
