We have officially wrapped up another wonderful week of Summer Programming, and it was filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories! It is hard to believe we are already more than halfway through our summer program. Our incoming 1st through 9th graders continue to amaze us with their enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to try new things each day!
This week, students across all grade levels enjoyed an exciting Spirit Week filled with Twin Day, Character Day, Game Day, Holiday Day, and fun face painting activities. These special events encouraged creativity, school spirit, teamwork, kindness, and friendship while giving students opportunities to celebrate what makes each person unique.

In ELA, students strengthened their reading, writing, and communication skills through engaging texts and discussions. Primary students explored story elements, pollinators, self-confidence, and individuality while beginning summer reading projects. Intermediate students focused on water conservation, identifying main ideas, and cursive writing, while upper grades analyzed literature by making inferences, citing textual evidence, comparing written works to film adaptations, and learning about important historical figures such as Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. Students also continued developing writing skills through reading responses, projects, and newspaper articles.
In Math, students built on grade-level skills by solving problems using a variety of strategies. Younger students practiced skip counting, word problems, subtraction with regrouping, tally charts, graphs, and pictographs. Intermediate students worked on multi-digit operations, division, factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers, and equivalent ratios. Older students focused on percentages, translating words into mathematical expressions, solving equations and inequalities, and strengthening problem-solving skills through real-world applications and test preparation.

Students also participated in enrichment activities that promoted collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. High school students demonstrated teamwork and sportsmanship through soccer and basketball, while Girls Who Code students explored careers in technology, continued programming interactive Scratch games, and reflected on the role of technology and innovation through games and group discussions.
Overall, Week 4 was filled with learning, creativity, collaboration, and memorable experiences. We are proud of our students' enthusiasm, perseverance, and continued growth, and we look forward to another exciting week of Summer Programming!
