Summer Program Week 2: Ellis Island and Turtle Back Zoo!

Week 2 of ICS Summer Programming was filled with exciting learning experiences, hands-on activities, and unforgettable adventures across all grade levels. Students continued to grow academically while building confidence, teamwork skills, and curiosity through engaging classroom lessons and real-world experiences.

A major highlight of the week was our educational field trips to Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and Turtle Back Zoo. Students across grades had the opportunity to step into history as they explored Ellis Island and learned about immigration, the journeys of families coming to America, and the diverse stories that helped shape our nation. The ferry rides, visits to the landmarks, and interactive experiences helped bring classroom lessons to life.

Students also enjoyed an exciting visit to Turtle Back Zoo, where they connected their learning to the natural world. They observed animals and habitats, explored the importance of ecosystems, learned about pollinators and wildlife, rode the zoo train, and even had the opportunity to feed stingrays. These experiences encouraged students to ask questions, make connections, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
