Week 2 of ICS Summer Programming was filled with exciting learning experiences, hands-on activities, and unforgettable adventures across all grade levels. Students continued to grow academically while building confidence, teamwork skills, and curiosity through engaging classroom lessons and real-world experiences.

Inside the classroom, students continued strengthening their academic skills. In Math, learners worked on a variety of grade-level concepts, including place value, addition and subtraction strategies, multiplication through arrays and equal groups, partial products, ratios, proportional relationships, transformations, inequalities, and foundational algebra skills. Students practiced explaining their thinking, solving problems in multiple ways, and building confidence as mathematicians.

In ELA, students explored a wide range of topics and texts. Younger students investigated pollinators and practiced writing complete sentences and detailed paragraphs, while older students analyzed informational texts, novels, songs, and historical connections. Students strengthened skills in comprehension, making inferences, identifying evidence, analyzing characters, exploring figurative language, and developing their writing skills through discussions and creative activities.

Students also continued developing important life skills through movement and enrichment activities. They practiced teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and perseverance through activities such as basketball, wellness exercises, and collaborative classroom challenges. Our Rising 9th Grade Girls Who Code students explored programming through interactive coding activities, developing creativity, confidence, and problem-solving skills as they created animations and learned the foundations of computer science.

To wrap up a memorable week, many classrooms celebrated with a fun and relaxing Pajama Day, enjoying movies, popcorn, popsicles, and time to reflect on the friendships and memories made throughout the week.

Week 2 of Summer Boost was a wonderful combination of academic growth, exploration, creativity, and community building. We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm, determination, and willingness to learn, and we look forward to another exciting week ahead!
