Two ICS Employees Honored at SINFP Breakfast

Yesterday morning, two of ICS’ shining stars were honored at the Staten Island Not-For-Profit Association 2019 Community Service Awards Breakfast held at Li Greci’s Staten.

Lavelle Prep Elementary music teacher Jessica Bruschi and Lavelle Prep Assistant Director of Security Joe Avitto were this year’s honorees, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.

Here’s a bit more about Jessica and Joe!

Joseph Avitto is the Assistant Director of Security for Integration Charter Schools. He has been with ICS for five years and has been an invaluable member of the organization. He has previous experience in law enforcement as a former NYPD officer. His former training and experience have been an asset to ICS in relation to the safety and security of faculty students. As a father of three his family ties and experience have helped him to relate to the students and create strong bonds within the organization, and beyond.  Joe has also run a coat drive for Integration Charter Schools through NY Cares for the last five years. He has also worked with the NY Jets
Jets Tackle Bullying Program” rewarding ICS students who have been upstanders with Jets tickets for these students and their parents.

Jessica Bruschi has been a music teacher at Integration Charter Schools for just over two years, but in that short time, she has connected ICS to the broader community by bringing her chorus to nursing homes, honoring veterans groups, marching in community parades, and serving as the liaison to the arts community. Jessica’s work in the community goes far beyond her time with ICS, as she was the principal of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun Hebrew School for six years and continues to serve on the advisory committee. Jessica’s impact in the community is multiplied because her efforts are often supported by her family, which includes her husband Louis and their four daughters Hannah, Isabel, Lila, and Frances. For the Bruschi family, community is an extension of the family and Jessica leads the way.
